The Propeller fan came about while designing blow dryers. The original concept called for a stationary blow dryer that would have detachable pods that could be used in-hand like an ordinary blow dryer. It then progressed to a design study on moving dynamic artwork that could also be functional. A product that could be useful but at the same time provide visual stimuli in any environment. I wanted the fan to deliver air in a new way, pods rotating around a base each containing its own fan mimicking an airplane propeller. I also wanted the base to reflect the surrounding environment much in the same way the P-51 Mustang's polished exterior reflected the earth. One central motor driving gears that power the fans. Moving art!
